Curriculum Overview

We provide a balanced educational programme within a safe and stimulating environment, so that each child embarks on a physical, intellectual and social journey of curiosity and reasoning. Virutcham thus offers a comprehensive and a balanced curriculum which is designed to make learning enjoyable, activity-based and experimental, preparing every student for higher challenges.

Kindergarten - Theme Based Learning:

A theme is an idea or topic that a teacher and children can explore in different ways in each lab and during outdoor play. A theme is based on culture, environment, shared experiences and specific goals within a lab.

Though basic themes will be the starting point in our curriculum, future themes will arise from events significant to each child and will arise from each lab. This way, high standards of education and high levels of motivation in learning will be maintained in every child. Children will be involved in planning the theme and taking active part in every step of the implementation.

Teachers will be involved in the periodic observation, implementation and planning at every step of the process of learning. They will integrate language, science, social skills, arithmetic, music, art, dance, drama, sports and self-help skills into each theme.

Scientific evaluations will be made and the confidential reports will be available to parents regularly along with a feedback on areas for change and scope for improvement.

A central element of the method is the “plan-do-review sequence” in which we make a plan, carry it out, and then reflect on the results. This will be evaluated and consolidated in the feedback. The aim of this approach is to encourage children who learn at different levels to benefit from every session of learning without boredom or feeling overwhelmed.

Holistic Growth via Multi-Domains : To ensure holistic development, learning is imparted across 9 domains – Physical & Gross Motor, Fine Motor, Sensory Motor, Self-Help, Cognitive Development, Social Skills, Emotional and Spiritual Development.

A variety of extra-curricular activities including visual and performing arts, music, yoga, karate, instrumental music, physical education and inter-school competitions are a part of the school's syllabus to complement learning beyond classrooms.

Primary & Secondary

We have shaped our curriculum in such a way that it acknowledges the existence of multiple types of intelligences and its diverse expression in each student; and the curriculum is designed to address all the versatile forms intelligence takes. Visual, auditory, logical-mathematical, kinesthetic and naturalist elements are incorporated into a well-rounded curriculum.

Virutcham adopts and adapts the philosophy of CBSE. Children learn to solve problems through teamwork. They learn the skills of learning for continuous improvement.

The secondary CBSE curriculum at Virutcham integrates all learning areas with each other in terms of knowledge, life skills, comprehension, values and attitudes. Education at Virutcham helps the learners to connect the content of their learning areas and subjects with their own lives and the world around them.

Our aim is to take our students to excellent colleges and universities in India and abroad, in preparation for successful and dynamic careers by providing a well-rounded curriculum incorporating visual, auditory, logical-mathematical, kinesthetic and naturalist elements.

Teaching & Assessment

At Virutcham, teaching and assessment is child-centered and multi-dimensional. In its true spirit, it triggers an all-round development of the student. Teachers at Virutcham are facilitators in the true sense of the word as they model and coach the children providing the children with the required scaffolding to draw out their best potential.

CurrentTeaching Methods

Our current teaching methods enable students to practice and hone various academic skills. Learning concepts are followed up by activities, projects, research papers and assignments that reinforce and fully leverage the continuous and comprehensive evaluation pattern of CBSE.

Interactive Involvement

True progress is made possible through healthy two-way communication between the academic team and the parents. We acknowledge the role of parents in the process of learning and transformation and therefore involve them actively in all activities at school.

Objective feedback about the child’s performance and personal strengths with practical tips on how progressive improvement can be brought in are given to parents periodically. Our interactive website enhances this interaction with everyday updates and options for transparent communication

Field Trips

We feel that Field trips are important because it gives students a chance to learn hands on. Also, travelling will give them a chance to see different places and learn new things up close and personal. Field trips bring classroom study alive for students and help them remember and relate to what they have learned as a part of their theme or curriculum. Hands-on activities are done before, during and after their visit to link their visit experience to their classroom curriculum through worksheets. At Virutcham, we find connections with the site related to the theme or the curriculum. We also create a worksheet that prompts students to draw, write responses, and answer questions related to the visit. After the visit, we allow the students to synthesize their experience creatively or they might present their experience orally.

Celebrations are another mode of learning and are an important custom at VIRUTCHAM. Celebrating various religious festivals and important days gives students the opportunities to view and understand more about cultures different from their own. Students develop respect and open-mindedness for other cultures through these celebrations. Colour days are also given importance. Each class holds a celebration incorporating drama, art, storytelling etc. Celebrations give students an opportunity to engage with their peer group as learners, instilling a sense of pride and accomplishment. The children host events, conduct choirs and contribute in various other modes.
